コボルドエリアのテーマについて by Scottie Jones

開発チームのワールドビルダー達の何人かが、現在コボルドのエリアのシーン制作に取りかかっています。
しかし、その前にコボルドというテーマについてチーム内での共通認識を作るために、合同で実際にシーンを制作してみました。

すでに制作が進んでいるSkrekkのシーンを間借りして、そこにテスト中の地下鉱山のシーンを設置し、いくつかのオブジェクトを入れ替えてみたり、新たに制作したオブジェクトを投入したりして、試作シーンの制作を進めました。結果として、この地下のシーンは、新作といって差し支えないほど新鮮なフィーリングになり、我々の共通認識としての"コボルド感"の、結晶ともいうべきものに仕上がりました。

最初のエリアは石造りの渡り廊下です。写っている大きなキノコは照明兼食料として利用されています。

コボルドの鉱夫達が掘った坑道です。彼らはこの坑道とトロッコを使ってエリア間の物資輸送を行っています。

コボルド達はキノコが大好きで、クリスタルを照明装置として使い、地下でもプランターでキノコの栽培を行っています。また、地下からわき出た自然の水を、水路で自分達のところまで引っ張ってきてポンプでくみ出し、彼らのテクノロジーである蒸気機関のために使っています。

一部の素材を除いて、既存のダンジョンで使用した素材を再利用してこのシーンを作成しています。しかし、一見それと分からないレベルの仕上がりです。

左に見える機械は蒸気機関の一部です。奥に見える大きな換気扇で地下を通気しています。蒸気機関による適度な湿気は、良いキノコの栽培条件にもなります。

画面左にある、ガス灯に照らされた時計仕掛けの装置で換気扇を動かしています。画面右の白い光は、エーテルコイルから供給されたエネルギーを用いた、ポータブルエーテルライトによるものです。

今までのシーンとは違い、彼らが住居としている市街地は大きな洞窟を用いた、巨大な空間の中にあります。街の道路は通行人や商人達で賑わい、各住居にはバルコニーや屋上部分も存在します。また、宿屋やミーティングホールといった施設も存在します。

コボルドの家具調度品。彼らの体躯とおなじ、"ちんまり＆ぺったんこ"がテーマになっています。

SotAMap.comの紹介

SotAMap.comでは、オリジナルのSotAワールドマップを公開されています。ワールドマップ上の地名や街などの記載はもちろんのこと、各街の見取り図まで備えた非常に凝ったものになっています。
さらに各PoTにも対応する予定になっており、各PoTオーナーは提供されたツールを使ってSotAMAP.comに対応した街の見取り図を作成できるようになるそうです。
